The AddressForAll Institute is proud to announce the participation of our ambassador in Colombia, Fredy Rivera, as a speaker at the 10th edition of the International Geomatics Week 2024, organized by IGAC (Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute). The event, taking place from October 9 to 13, is one of the main gatherings for geomatics professionals in Latin America, promoting technological innovations and discussions on territorial management and geospatial information.
Fredy Rivera’s Presentation:
Fredy Rivera will present the topic “Implementación del Geocódigo AFA.Codes en la Nomenclatura Rural de Tunja: Un Caso de Éxito Escalable” (Implementation of AFA.Codes Geocode in Tunja’s Rural Nomenclature: A Scalable Success Case). This presentation will highlight the successful implementation of the AFA.Codes Geocode in the rural nomenclature of Tunja, showing how this initiative can be scaled to other regions of the country as well as to other nations.
The AFA Codes geocodes are an innovative tool that allows the creation of precise and unique addresses, facilitating the management and location of rural areas. The experience in Tunja demonstrates that this technology not only improves administrative efficiency but also contributes to the socio-economic development of rural communities. The AFA Codes methodology is also being officially implemented in Cameroon (Africa) as part of a European Union-funded project called “Urban Platform.”
Strengthening the “Marco Nacional de Direcciones” and AFA Codes Projects
In addition to his participation in the event, Fredy Rivera has already met with Polivio Leandro Rosales, Deputy Minister of Rural Development, and Gloria Cuartas, the President’s delegate to the Board of the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC). These meetings and our presence at the event aim to promote the strengthening of the “Marco Nacional de Direcciones” project within DANE and the adoption of AFA Codes across the country.
