On October 19, 2022 we presented the methodology and the proposal of OSM.Codes in the III Brazilian Symposium of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SBIDE), organized by the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). Technical representatives from several institutions in Brazil were present, such as IBGE, state and municipal departments, and universities.
In the event, we had the opportunity to debate the relevance of a new statistical grid and geocode for Brazil, as well as the importance of developing free and open source software. The proposal was well received, accompanied by comments from the audience about the need for the identification of rural addresses and georeferencing of components of the physical infrastructure of cities, such as traffic signs and lamp posts.
